Once again I’ve been drawn close to a song by Neil Young.

Over the last week or two my thoughts and spirit have been centred on the elements of Light and Love, how to be more Open and how vulnerable life, family and friendship can be at times.

“You and Me” was originally on the album “Harvest Moon” and sung with the late Nicolette Larson. However, I have downloaded this beautiful and honest lovesong onto YouTube  from the live version on the album “Dreamin Man”.

I’m blown away by how Neil takes a simple lovesong with authentic and everyday imagery into the realm of the Spirit.

Pure Beauty!!

“You And Me”

Open up your eyes
 See how life time flies
Open up and let the light back in.

Open up your heart
Let the lovin’ start
Open up and let the light back in.

I was thinking of you and me
Makin’ love beneath the tree
And now I wonder could it be.

Thinkin’ ’bout the times we had
Some were good and some were bad
Guitar fightin’ the T.V.

I was thinkin’ ’bout you and me
I was thinkin’ ’bout you and me
I was thinkin’ of you and me
I was thinkin’ ’bout you and me.

Lookin’ at you just the other night
Dancin’ in the evening light
True love conquers all.

Old man sittin’ there
Touch of grey, but he don’t care
When he hears his children call.

I was thinkin’ ’bout you and me
I was thinkin’ ’bout you and me
I was thinkin’ ’bout you and me
I was thinkin’ ’bout you and me.

Open up your eyes
See how life time flies
Open up and let the light back in.

Eid Mubarak!!

September 11, 2010

Blessings to all my Muslim friends who celebrated Eid this week.

Below is a photo of an ancient Sufi Mosque near Khartoum that I attended a while back during a trip to Sudan. Actually, I joined a Friday sunset Zikr at the graveyard next  to the Mosque. See the photos here

I’m looking forward to going to the Sufi Temple tomorrow morning here in Newlands, Cape Town.
